Why Poets Daydream Night And Day

***********************************
by: Steven Ilchev, 2009
***********************************

On days so grey when clouds inspire
long-bearded men to fight fire with fire
a rain droplet from the wisdom sky
conveys to wordsmiths how to
let go and fly

How to utter words that move
their ladies so much so that
they squeal like newborn babies
because the sayings are so true
in their eyes, more genuine than
platitudes or chocolate-boxy lies

Go, wordsmiths stroll into this street,
a street unknown to plain mortals way
too neat and feel free to butter up slices
of verse before the cloudy days get worse
and worse.

Thrust-A-Thumping Thoughtlessly

Thrust-a-thumping thoughtlessly
betwixt the ghosts' classic attire
in broad, too clear daylight
is not rewarding to the soulful lava
vivacity of sensation's nitpicking vassals
for there is no faint candle-light in sight,
no mystery's tingly frivolity
and no subtle fingerpicking that
prolongs that most glorified
waiting-game of ours.

Ardency 'Passionata' In Heartfelt Major

========================================

========================================

If ever ardency were needed to spice up a musical delicacy, the ingredients below would more than suffice:

An Independent England,
An English Parliament,
Literature,
Cornwall,
Cornish mystique,
Witches,
Piskies,
Knockers,
The Wrath of Portreath,
Celtic/Norse mythologies,
Goddesses who think beneath the surface and beyond the seemingly rosy horizon,
Goddesses who cherish elocution and verbalise their tenacity without a trace of fear particles, The Minack Theatre,
The National Trust,
English Heritage,
Vegetarianism,
Ethiopian cuisine,
The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC),
Animal rights,
My role as 'Daddy Slug of Lychee-Field' to a society of effervescent youthful brigadiers of madness,
The rights that the valiant Gurkhas have been so preposterously denied in spite of all of their incredible sacrifices,
Kernewek - the language,
Cymraeg - the language,
Manx - the language,
Breton - the language,
Cumbric - the language,
Japanese - the language,
Irish - the language,
Finnish cuisine (veggie side thereof),
Jamaican cuisine (the little veggie side thereof),
West Indies and the myriad cultures that abound there,
Greenland,
Norway and the Norwegian language

All The Herdless Sheep

by: Steven Ilchev, 2006
===========================================

As time passes by
And the winds of change bring me
An epiphany of sorts
I countenance the pearls of wisdom
Bequeathed to me by those I once
Looked up to

Today, I am, however, equal
In a world where the blind man's king
And I don't feel the need to stare like
A sick and helpless puppy at those that once
Were too dominant for words

I am a man, a man of equal status in this blindfolded
Group of herdless sheep
I hold on to my pearls of wisdom as
I get to grips with
My newfound worlds ahead

So, as I seek to take on big-shot gorillas
Who might view me as a nuisance
I find some solace in the holy art of
Dreading lovely ladies' curls

As time passes by
And the winds of change bring me
An epiphany of striking sorts
I countenance the pearls of wisdom
Bequeathed to me by those I once
Looked up to…

Those bleating like all the herdless sheep
I am glad I have come to befriend somehow
In the context of the maverick holy cow
And the limousine-navigating incorrigible sow.
